Liechtenstein's Philately Industry
Stamps have been a major export for Liechtenstein for many years, and large numbers of childhood stamp collectors only recognise the name Liechtenstein as a result of their stamp collections.
Originally, Liechtenstein had its stamps produced in Britain by Harrison Ltd, and its use of commemorative stamps grew a large fan base. The commemorative issues became increasingly important and were generating a great deal of money for the Government.
First day covers and sets of stamps are available directly from the Philately Office, and from numerous gift shops throughout Liechtenstein. Few of the stamps are very valuable, but their beauty has captured the heart of many collectors. When visiting Vaduz, the Postal museum is a worthwhile stop.
